It's time to blast off!

The time has come and Joseph is ready to blast off!  We made the living room the staging ground for packing so Elder Johnson's bags were sprawled out on the floor for a few days.  Elder Johnson tried to pack Lucy, but I guess it's against mission rules to bring your little sister on your mission.  She wasn't super excited about being zipped up in a suit case anyway, so it worked out.  We will miss our Joey!

She fits!

It's happening!  Packing has commenced.

Why are there rubber bands around
that BOM?  When Joseph arrives in Paraguay he will need $160 in cash, but not just any cash, perfect cash.  So we went to the bank and sifted through a lot of money to find the best money we could find.  There was a slight creasing in the three 20 dollar bills, so we came home and ironed the bills until they were perfect.  Then we put the money in the middle of the BOM and sealed it with rubberbands (not how Moroni sealed it originally).

Ya'll, this is what we have left on the list!  I'm a list person.

Now it's time to play one more time before it's time to blast off!

This is Joseph's home MTC room.  I don't think he ever cleaned it, but I thought it was cute how he had a mostly eaten package of cookies on the floor.  His life was in this room for 6 weeks and I am so excited that he finally gets to bust out.  We didn't have time to clean, so we just shut the door and walked away.

Is it weird that I think this is the cutest thing ever?  And is it weird that I took a picture of trash?  I joked with Elder Johnson that he could probably fit one more can of buble before the trash was full!  Again, shut the door and walk away!

I'm so happy to see that Elder Johnson is making himself available!

Rolling out!

I gave Elder Johnson shot gun and these guys had such a good talk!

Mr. David was able to come with us!

Lucy took some time to write her brother a little note.

We made it to security! It's time to say goodbye.

Pops will miss his right hand man!

It's time for this little bird to fly out of the nest and this momma is so proud!  Go Joey Go!

Brothers and best friends.

This was such a sweet moment!

And he's off!

He made it to Paraguay!  4 airports, 5,000 miles, over 24 hours of total travel time.  I am so grateful for modern technology, cell phones, google hangouts, google travel and flight aware that made this momma's heart feel at ease. Ultimately, we know the very best technology is the gift of prayer.

Elder Johnson left this sweet note on our bathroom mirror!  I love my thoughtful son!

Hey what's going on, I'm finally back ready to start, so let's do this! I'll just hit all of the main points and then go into the most important details later.  •We had 2 baptisms •our new mission president gave us some awesome changes  •got talked to a drunk guy that REALLY wanted to play basketball but he looked like he was about to fall over • A crazy lady that showed up to church with a burnt book of mormon and bible, and she was dancing, singing, and throwing stuff during church and on top of that she would speak to you in guarani, spanish and portuguese. AAAAANNND she wanted a picture with me so i got a picture with her (picture below) •we are supposed to work on facebook for 20 minutes a day from now on and we have to find people. The cool thing is the two baptisms we have had were from online work from other elders that sent us the reference. How incredible is that! •Im getting way better at speaking spanish and I can usually teach a ...

Joseph's last supper!

Joseph decided that he wanted to go to Wasabi for his last supper and then real life happened and we had to shift plans and have grub hub deliver five guys to the house.  It turned out really fun though because after we ate, we played maki in the backyard and then everyone piled on the trampoline to bounce off some of those calories.  Just so you know, maki means lemur in Malagasy.  We usually play horse or pig, but instead we used the word maki to play "horse", because it's just so much cooler and fun that way!   Joseph is the fun in our house and we are really going to miss that dynamic when he is gone!  We also went mini golfing a few days later and it was fun to just spend time together.  We didn't keep score and we just decided to goof off and have fun.  Lucy played several holes in front of us the entire time and Joseph helped her get a hole in one on the last hole.  He's always so giving and kind to everyone!

Preparation day Cinco de Mayo! Halfway through home MTC!

Elder Johnson loves the outdoors and so we decided that every preparation day, we would go up to vedauwoo and go on an adventure.  Last p-day we hiked in vedauwoo (pictures to come) and it was probably the most beautiful day we have ever seen up there.  It had just snowed the night before, but as the morning progressed the snow began to melt and there were waterfalls coming off of the rocks everywhere.  The sky was crystal clear, the air was still, clean and fresh.  The sound of water falling off the rocks, the gurgling, bubbling and splashing made for a magnificent experience with Elder Johnson.   This p-day, we decided to bring our bikes to vedauwoo and because it had snowed again, we enjoyed riding through the snow covered path.  We found some hidden gems a long the way (I'd like to imagine that no one has ever been where we went) like the little stream that we found at the end of our trail.  Elder Johnson and I are a lot alike, we both enjoy a...
