Preparation day Cinco de Mayo! Halfway through home MTC!

Elder Johnson loves the outdoors and so we decided that every preparation day, we would go up to vedauwoo and go on an adventure.  Last p-day we hiked in vedauwoo (pictures to come) and it was probably the most beautiful day we have ever seen up there.  It had just snowed the night before, but as the morning progressed the snow began to melt and there were waterfalls coming off of the rocks everywhere.  The sky was crystal clear, the air was still, clean and fresh.  The sound of water falling off the rocks, the gurgling, bubbling and splashing made for a magnificent experience with Elder Johnson.

This p-day, we decided to bring our bikes to vedauwoo and because it had snowed again, we enjoyed riding through the snow covered path.  We found some hidden gems a long the way (I'd like to imagine that no one has ever been where we went) like the little stream that we found at the end of our trail.  Elder Johnson and I are a lot alike, we both enjoy adventure, we both like a challenge, neither of us mind getting dirty, sweating or even sometimes bleeding.  And we just really enjoy leaving behind all our cares to just go have an adventure.  We honestly don't talk a lot, but I do notice that we are laughing a lot.  We stayed as long as the weather allowed us and then we hurriedly pedaled our way back up the trail, which had turned into a boggy mess.  It wouldn't have been so hard, but Elder Johnson and I had played a few games of dodge ball the night before and all that sprinting made our quads extraordinarily sore.  Our legs were on fire as we pedaled over the muddy trail, but we muscled through it just fine.  I love being Elder Johnson's companion, he is kind, soft spoken and is just super chill and find that really soothing.

Joseph's last supper!

Joseph decided that he wanted to go to Wasabi for his last supper and then real life happened and we had to shift plans and have grub hub deliver five guys to the house.  It turned out really fun though because after we ate, we played maki in the backyard and then everyone piled on the trampoline to bounce off some of those calories.  Just so you know, maki means lemur in Malagasy.  We usually play horse or pig, but instead we used the word maki to play "horse", because it's just so much cooler and fun that way!   Joseph is the fun in our house and we are really going to miss that dynamic when he is gone!  We also went mini golfing a few days later and it was fun to just spend time together.  We didn't keep score and we just decided to goof off and have fun.  Lucy played several holes in front of us the entire time and Joseph helped her get a hole in one on the last hole.  He's always so giving and kind to everyone!

Elder Johnson first day of home MTC April 14th

Elder Johnson was ready to go bright and early today.  I thought he looked spot on!

P-day

I saw a baby bunny out on my compost pile and immediately Lucy and Joseph were out trying to catch him.  Elder Johnson raked back some of my old tomato plants and found an entire nest of baby bunnies underneath.  Elder Johnson managed to catch this little guy and Lucy was delighted.  Last year we had some tragic accidents happen, when a few baby bunnies fell in our window well and died.  This year, we fixed the window wells and hopefully the little bunnies will stay out of them.  Elder Johnson loves creatures and values each one as unique and special. I remember when he was little, he would carry bugs with him all day.  One day he caught this enormous grub and he put it in a cup and carried it around while we ran errands together.  I still remember what he named it, Sherman.  No other grub in the history of the world has ever been loved more than Sherman.  Over the years, Elder Johnson has caught so many creatures, bugs, birds, bunnies, snake...
